Here are some frequently asked questions from our parents.

What is the process to join?

bulletContact us to receive information about availability of troops and leaders.
bulletFill out a registration form with GSUSA registration fee.
bulletComplete a parent talents/skills questionnaire.
bulletComplete the girl health history form.
bulletTroop assignments will be made by grade level and are dependent upon adult volunteers.
bulletOnce an adult leader is identified, you will be contacted for the first meeting.

What is a parent's role?

Girl scouting DEPENDS upon adult volunteers.  All parents are asked to share their talents and skills including:

bulletTroop leader, co-leader or assistant leader, treasurer
bulletTroop product sale chairpersons (cookies or magazines/nuts)
bulletMeeting assistance such as craft, field trip, car pooling, newsletter, email or phone chain, etc.
bulletTroop first aider for camping or outings
bulletNote: training and screening is required for all leaders, according to GSUSA and GSWPA rules and regulations

When does my daughter's troop meet?

Troop meeting time, place and frequency depends upon the troop leader's schedule.  All troops are independent, but must operate under the umbrella of Trefoil Scout, GSWPA and GSUSA rules and regulations.  Most troops meet twice a month.

What about other costs?

There are costs other than the annual GSUSA membership dues which include:

bullettroop dues which are set by each troop leader but usually range from $20-$50 annually
bulletuniform parts which you should discuss with your individual leader as each troop decides what type of uniform parts they would like each of its members to purchase; a full uniform is never a requirement
bulletoccasional field trips may incur a cost

Is fund-raising required?

bullettroop fund raising is limited to 2 annual drives:  Fall Magnut Sale and Winter Cookie Sale
bulletextra fund raisers are extremely limited and allowed ONLY if formally approved by GSWPA for extraordinary trips or events
